Yeah, it’s about as weird as it sounds. The Satanic temple followed through on their threat and have filed a lawsuit for $50 million against Netflix and Warner Bros, accusing them of ripping off the Baphomet statue (which Chilling Adventures of Sabrina uses in the hall of the Academy of Unseen Arts) to “fuel satanic panic”.

The temple has been renowned to make life difficult for those who represent their iconography, and they’ve insisted that the Netflix series is profiting from its works. The Baphomet statue utilized by the Temple is based on iconography dating back to the 19th century, and they insist that the version in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is much too close to their own.

Lucien Greaves, who is the co-founder of the Satanic Temple has stated that the show was “appropriating our copyright monument design to promote their asinine Satanic Panic fiction” as his reasoning for conducting the lawsuit.
