It’s been announced that Robbie Amell (The Flash) is trying to usher in a new Batman Beyond movie, with himself playing Terry McGinnis. Robbie currently plays Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm in ‘The Flash’ over on The CW, whilst his cousin, Stephen, plays the Green Arrow over on Arrow. Superheroism is a family affair. It’s understandable that Robbie wants to move over to cinema, but here are some reasons as to why he shouldn’t.

McGinnis should be played by a Hispanic actor to match the character’s origins from the animated television series/comics. An actor like Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) or Nicholas Gonzalez (The Flash) would be a better fit than Mr Amell. Supposedly, Robbie Amell thinks that they could do the movie without a huge budget such as $20 million dollars, forgetting that Neo-Gotham is full of Cyber-Punk elements, similar to the version of LA from Blade Runner. This would require a bigger budget than what Amell has in mind. This doesn’t even factor in the payment of cast and crew, the production of costumes/practical sets and so on and so on.

Do we even need ANOTHER Batman? We’ve already got Ben Affleck as the current Batman, with his own solo movie coming soon. The media is very flush with Batman as it is, we don’t need another one. Would it not be more beneficial to engage with the audience and focus their efforts on bringing new diverse characters in? We’d love to see characters like Static Shock, Beast Boy and John Stewart.

What do you think? Do we need another Batman or do you want to see Robbie Amell as Batman Beyond? Let us know!
