The era of X-Men movie spin-offs is upon us – in 2016 we were gifted with Deadpool, this March marks the final time we’ll see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Logan, and the New Mutants is in heavy development.

One thing we’re currently lacking information on in regards to New Mutants is the cast, though certain roles have been linked to actors and actresses for as long as we’ve known about the spin-off. One of these actresses is Anya Taylor-Joy, who just sounded off about the movie.

The most interesting thing she revealed? James McAvoy should be returning as Charles Xavier once more. When asked about her Split co-star and whether she’d like to act with him again, she said: “I mean, I think James is already a part of it, isn’t he?” If anybody would know at this point, it’s somebody who’s on the cast alongside him.

Another interesting titbit is that Taylor-Joy has seen the Demon Bear animatic that was released a couple of months ago, so she’s definitely up to date with the project, though she hasn’t revealed she’s onboard just yet. Here’s what she did say, though:

I’m a big fan so I’d love to be a part of it. I can’t say very much, but I would love to be a part of it. I think this year’s gonna be very exciting.

We expect McAvoy’s Professor X to maintain the mentor role in the upcoming movie, showing the New Mutants how to go in the ever-dangerous world of Mutants. Josh Boone is set to directer the movie based on a script by himself, Knate Lee, Scott Neustadter, and Michael H. Weber.

The movie is rumoured to be set around the current time period in the X-Men franchise, and is said to be looking at a Spring 2018 release date.
