The cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming just keeps growing at the moment, with Robert Downey Jr. joining Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Laura Harrier. This is according to The Hollywood Reporter, who are usually on the ball when it comes to big news like this.

Robert Downey Jr. is said to have finalized talks with Marvel Studios, showing that they’re keen to keep the universe as linked and cohesive as possible – obviously the inclusion of Iron Man will bring in more of an audience too.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first movie brought to fans by the partnership of Sony and Marvel, and Downey wasn’t under contract for this movie so we’re sure the studios would have had to agree to a sizable amount to bring Tony Stark aboard.

It’s said that Iron Man is a mentor to Spidey in Captain America: Civil War, so it would be nice for Marvel to develop this role further in the web-slinger’s solo movie – especially since he’s lacking a significant male role model in his life after the passing of Uncle Ben.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to swing into UK cinemas on July 7th, 2017. Visit our Upcoming Superhero Movie schedule for more release dates!
