He’s one of the busiest producers in Hollywood at the moment, and he obviously doesn’t feel like he’s just busy enough. That’s why Greg Berlanti, the main man behind Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Blindspot, and The Mysteries of Laura is taking on a movie. Oh yeah, he’s also looking to get his comic book show Riverdale, which is based on Archie Comics, picked up on The CW.
It was reported last year that Berlanti was working with Warner Bros. on a movie featuring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle – and it seems like it’s turning into a reality more and more recently. The Hollywood Reporter did a huge feature on the man himself as a show-runner and discussing his career; you should read it, it’s actually pretty great.
During the interview, he was asked if he’d be interested in becoming to DC’s Extended Universe what Kevin Feige is to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to which he said the following:
“It’s never even really come up. Peter [Roth, president of Warner Bros. TV] knows how much I love the characters, and I like being part of this universe in any way that they’ll all allow and are interested in me being a part. That’s the truth. I’m attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.]now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now. I’d probably direct that, or I would want to. But I don’t see my cup as limited. I actually think some of the stuff we get to do on the TV side is richer, deeper and more like the true comic books in the sense that you’re always able to explore a new thing the next week and the stories grow wider and wider.”
We’ve taken the liberty of emboldening the most interesting information to take from his answer, and it reveals he’s working on the Boster Gold movie alongside Zack Stentz, who wrote this amazing episode of The Flash recently. It’s unknown as to whether Blue Beetle will actually be involved in the movie, especially with Berlanti only referencing Booster Gold, but there’s a decent chance he’ll at least make an appearance.
