After doing the flashing in Warner Bros. Watchmen as Doctor Manhattan, Billy Crudup is set is play The Flash‘s dad in the upcoming movie. In an report by Variety, it is said that Crudup is in talks to take on the role of Henry Allen. If this isn’t enough indication that it’s happening, Warner Bros. refused to comment on the news, so there’s a good chance it’s happening.

The production is set to commence this year, with the movie eyeing a release on March 16th. Plot details are scarce as of now but we’ve already seen Ezra Miller’s take on the scarlet speedster in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the first trailer for the upcoming Justice League ensemble piece. It’s rumoured that the Rogues are to be the villains that Barry Allen will face, but there’s no confirmation as of yet.

We know Kiersey Clemons has joined the cast of the movie as Iris West, and Rick Famuyiwa will direct. He takes over from Seth Grahame-Smith who was originally set to direct the flick after penning the script based on a treatment by Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

Crudup is an Oscar winning actor with roles in Spotlight and The Stanford Prison Experiment, so we know he’ll do a great job as Henry. This character is of course currently in the television show The Flash, portrayed by John Wesley Shipp.

The Flash races into cinemas on March 16th, 2018. For more release dates, check out our movie calendar!
