This article contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and potential spoilers for Avengers 4. If you haven’t seen Infinity War yet, we don’t recommend you read this one. Also, what on earth is wrong with you? Sort that immediately.
As the hype continues to simmer after the cliffhanger we were left on in Avengers: Infinity War, theories have been pinging off the walls as to what could possibly follow Thanos’ snap. We all want to be pleasantly surprised by the follow-up, but if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to know absolutely all of the info that has leaked in regards to the film before it comes to cinemas in May 2019. So come with us as we recap all of the things you may have missed about Avengers 4. Let’s start with something more slippery before we reach the more solid leaks-
Zoe Saldana may have leaked the film’s title
One thing fans have been thinking about the most is the title of the follow-up, especially as Kevin Feige has expressed that the title serves as a spoiler for Infinity War. Despite this, on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 press tour, Zoe Saldana (who plays Gamora) said to Newsround of all places “I think that the Guardians just shot their part when it comes to Infinity War, the first part, and we all have to go back for ‘Gauntlet’ next year. You know what this could mean- this could merely be a codename among cast and crew, but if this truly is a leak, it means that Avengers 4 could well be titled Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet. This feels out of place, however, as it doesn’t feel like much of a spoiler, yet it’s likely we’ll learn the true title of the film in the coming months once everyone’s absorbed Infinity War.
For those who are eagerly anticipating Captain Marvel’s solo film or if you stuck around for the post-credits scene of Infinity War, this will come as no surprise. Following Agent Maria Hill’s disintegration, Nick Fury contacts Carol Danvers herself using a modded out pager. Her appearance in the follow-up will continue from her solo film projected to land in March 2019, so that’s going to be one to keep an eye out for, especially as it will introduce the Skrulls to the MCU, something that has been rumoured to be integrated into the superhero cast for a long time. But if the Captain Marvel solo movie is set in the ’90s and Avengers 4 is present day… Where has she been for the last 20-something years?
Oh yes. Many were sceptical that the Avengers may never dive into time-travel for sake of keeping the continuity perfectly intact, but set photo leaks have shown us we very definitely will be seeing time jumps of some variety. A leaked set photo has come up featuring Iron Man and Captain America both in their original Avengers get-ups, alongside Ant-Man at the Battle of New York, featured in the first Avengers film. Speculation has run rampant, but we can say this much- We will be seeing a return to the great battle alongside Ant-Man (who you’ll note was not there in the initial Avengers outing) in an effort to rectify the events of Thanos’ snap.
Hulk might be getting a sleek & sexy new suit
Okay, maybe those aren’t the words for it, but you get the idea. Some artwork has supposedly leaked of the remaining main heroes left, including Ant-Man and Hawkeye/Ronin (FINALLY) but something that a lot of people have zeroed in on is that The Hulk is wearing some fresh new garb. It’s a seemingly blue/ grey ensemble, and this is interesting for two reasons- the first being that the MCU hasn’t seen The Hulk donning uniform yet, and this seems to confirm that we will see The Hulk in his full fashion in Avengers 4. Following the scenes we have been treated to of Bruce Banner attempting to coax Hulk out of him to no avail, audiences were unsure of how much we’d get to see of the green guy in Avengers 4, but with this we can see that we get him back. But will he have increased intelligence or will this be a different personality of the Hulk entirely like he has in the comics?
And finally, possibly the most important information we have yet…
Happy is back!
That’s it- Jon Favreau has been seen on the set of Avengers 4. We shouldn’t have to tell you why this is a good thing.
And that’s about all we’ve got so far. Here’s hoping that Avengers 4 will be able to see to all of our hopes, and not crush ALL of our hearts. We know where it’s going, we just aren’t ready to see it happen. If you want to keep up with us on Twitter @HeroesDirect!
