It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man here at Heroes Direct, just read our review. A sprawling open world boasting a compelling story, plenty of challenges, villains galore and a whole host of brilliant Spider-Suits to choose from… What’s not to love? The only problem with the game is that it does feel a little short, something that Insomniac Games are remedying with new downloadable content. The first of which heads to consoles on October 23.

The entire DLC collection is called ‘The City That Never Sleeps’, with the first chapter entitled; The Heist. It’ll focus on the reappearance of an old frenemy of Peter’s; Felicia Hardy A.K.A. Black Cat. Her costume has been given an armoured update, and she probably has some extra tricks up her sleeves. The two were something of an item for a while, so it’ll be interesting to see how the game adopts that dynamic, especially since MJ is a very big part of Peter’s life. The two are put on a collision course with Black Cat after a robbery at an art museum. We even got some promotional art designed by Adi Granov, who designed the Velocity suit in the main game.

Additionally, players will get three brand new suits with the DLC, although it’s not clear whether they’ll be unlockable through the story or simply available to play after download. We get the Spider-UK suit from Spider-Verse, the Scarlet Spider II and a suit designed by legendary Marvel illustrator, Gabriele Dell’Otto; the Resilient Suit.

Finally, it’s also been teased by Game Director Ryan Smith that the three DLC chapters will all tie together creating one over-arching storyline. The next two chapters are called ‘Turf Wars’ and ‘Silver Lining’. While Turf Wars is a little more ambiguous, it’s likely going to add more gang factions. Silver Lining will see the return of Silver Sable after she realised what her private army was doing to the city. Check out a teaser trailer below.
