We’re aware Josie and the Pussycats aren’t heroes, but the wonderful Archie Comics are doing great things at the moment, and they’re rebooting the adventures of the girl band. The television series Riverdale – based on the adventures of Archie, Jughead and Archie Comics’ other iconic characters – is coming to The CW, and the news doesn’t stop there.
You may know of Josie and the Pussycats from the terrible movie (featuring Daredevil‘s Rosario Dawson), but they’re now rocking their way back into continuity with Archie and his gang. Archie Comics has gone through a big reboot as of late and managed to turn their characters into big-time comic book characters, so Josie and her band being available from September is another step in the right direction.
Marguerite Bennett and Cameron DeOrdio will write the series, and Audrey Mok will draw up some lovely art. The series is said to be somewhat of an origin story, with “Josie uniting the band to their big shot at musical stardom, only to contend with the machinations of Alexandra Cabot, the ever-Machiavellian daughter of the Pussycats’ manager.”
Keep an open mind and check out Archie Comics’ Josie and the Pussycats when it hit stands in September.
